Long Term

Hey,
so I haven't posted on here for over a year. Partly because I was extremely busy figuring out school, life and myself and also because I wanted to see the actual visual progress my hair made within a year. And it sure is a lot.

My hair has changed its texture due to me being mixed, growing and texturizer effects. It is now at shoulder length when stretched and has gotten a lot easier to work with over this time. I have a more-or-less regular regimen and many go-to styles for school mornings.

Also, I got a new texturizer today, which is the first one after the last entry about them here. Basically, I am a happily functioning natural(until today) and feel like I have everything figured out(sort of).

Anyways, to sum up, my hair has grown a whole lot, I literally stopped being natural today and my regimen and hairstyle knowledge is stable and evergrowing.

Have a great time in this back-to-school season!

Stable

Hey guys, haven't written in a long time, right? That's because I did not have any ups or downs with my hair. I was stable. My hair is at medium length with medium kinkiness and medium effort. It's simply medium. I have been wearing it in two braids for quite a while now and yesterday, I detangled it extremely thoroughly. I don't know how it is with you guys, but somehow, I can't finger detanlge. I always allow myself to ignore the knots when I do finger detangling. So, ignoring all the comments about combs ruining your curl pattern, I still use them because they are the only thing that works. Hopefully, all of you insecure transitioners are managing as good as I am, but if not: It gets better and you will reach your goal. Remember though, live for the moment, not for the future. Happy Spring!

Natural or not?

As I grew up in an almost completely german neighbourhood with barely any mixed people, I have never felt the urge to have straight hair. Everyone was always fascinated by my curliness and I could do almost anything with it. However, slowly getting out of the age where two afro puffs on both sides were considered presentable, I started researching more and more about different hairstyles and treatments for natural hair. What I soon noticed was that all these bloggers and youtubers were not life-long naturals. They all had their stories of pressed, relaxed and texlaxed hair. Now, with natural hair, they were convinced that this was the only true way to wear your hair. There are almost no natural hair gurus out there who are not convinced that natural hair is the only hair you should have. They say that you should love what you have and deal with your hair the way it is. Of course you should be happy for the awesome hair texture you have, but I personally think that if you aren't comfortable with your hair, or you don't have the time and money for it, you can absolutely get it straight. I think that the more options you know and have, the better. So, if you feel bad in any way for not 'respecting and loving' your curls, so what! Hair is hair and our society already puts too much value on these dead cells.

Goals

http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ld86cyQl0T1qa0wj4o1_400.jpg

So, being a girl who grew up in a world filled with stereotypes, I have always wanted long hair. Knowing, however, that my hair would never naturally be straight and fall on my shoulders, I set myself the reasonable goal of a hair length with which I could put my hair into a single afropuff/ponytail. I wanted to stop worrying about my hairstyle of the next day on the night before and just go to sleep with my satin bonnet. Now, I have reached this goal. Through all of February, I never wore my hair completely open and treated it amazingly. This really increased the speed of my hair growth,so now it is at my goal length. I am honestly so happy that I am finally at a stage of adoring my hair!!! I do not put myself under stress anymore and simply wake up and put it in a puff.
SO AMAZING!!!SO HAPPY!!!

Hair Regime

Hey guys!
So, as you probably know, I had my hair texturized/texlaxed for the second time in my life about one month ago. However, due to my z-shaped curls, my hair still looks and beahaves completely natural. Therefore, I have decided to make a list of things I use in my hair daily and for certain hairstyles. So, if you are natural, transitioning or texturized, you might be interested in this!

Must Haves:

Hair scarf or cap for the night

Olive, Coconut, Jojoba, Argan or any other oil for everday

Conditioner(for co-wash and leave-in)

Shampoo(moisturizing)

Hair Tie(without metal piece)

For Hairstyles:

Cocoa or Shea Butter for sealing twists or braids

Bobby Pins

Bows, Clips, Bands(accessories)

Personal Addition:

Rat-Tail Comb

Tangle Teezer

Water-Oil Spray

Shower Cap

Hopefully, this might help you with your regimen, but remember: Everyone is individual, so perfect products will vary from person to person.

New Style

So, since yesterday I am wearing my first long-term protective style ever!!! Normally, I make my hair all nicey-nice and then just take it out in the evening. However, I am now wearing loose twists and it just makes me soo happy. When I get up in the morning, I don't have to worry about making my hair look presentable, but simple put a cute accessory in. Also, this helps me stick to my new plan of not making my hair wet everyday, which is what I used to do. Now, I plan to co-wash my hair twice a week and use shampoo every four weeks. Summarizing, I feel a lot better about my hair now that it is texturized and easy to handle. I think that all the bad side effects of chemicals mainly appear if you stop to treat your hair like you used to. I still put oils in and I still use leave-ins.

A Change

Okay, so this post might make a few of you stop reading my blog. However, I want to explain specifically why I did what I did and would want to ask you if you would still count me as part of the natural hair community. So, here's what I did... I texturised my hair. I did this because I could not deal with my natural hair, which is of a 4c/d pattern. Living in Germany and being a pupil, I did not have enough time and energy to do things like twisting my hair every night, wearing really difficult protective styles or buying awesome products. Now, I do not have to deal with having loads of knots everyday just because I did nothing. In order not to make anyone think that I now have straight or only wavy 3c/4aish hair, I can comfort you. My hair is a 4bish texture, just with less knots. Also, I always followed the teenage-girlish dream of longer hair, so now I have it. Now, to repeat my question: Would you still count me as part of the natural hair community or do you think that whichever type of chemical immediately excludes you from this commuity?
